On 20 December 2018, the Institute of History organized the Annual Session of Scientific Papers entitled "Institute of History in the Centenary Year". The works of the session were hosted by the "Onisifor Ghibu" Municipal Library and traditionally started with the carols' visit. The plenary session included three papers dedicated to the celebration of the 60th anniversary from the founding of the Institute of History: cor.mem. Demir DRAGNEV, Dr. Ion Valer XENOFONTOV - Institutionalization and research directions of the Institute of History (1958-1990); Acad. Andrei EŞANU - Some reflections on the past of the Institute of History; dr. Virgiliu BÎRLĂDEANU - Academic Institutionalisation of Historical Research in MSSR and the Republic of Moldova: Stages and Evolutions.

On December 14, 2018, the Institute of History organized the Workshop Workshop "ROMANIAN DIPLOMACY AND THE BESSARABIAN QUESTION (1878-1940)", with the participation of historians from Iasi and Chisinau. The event was hosted by the Conference Hall of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. Workshop works have finished with a series of book presentations.

On December 11, 2018, within the Institute of History took place the public meeting of the Scientific Council of the institution, for the approval of the reports of scientific subdivisions for 2018.

The reports of the scientific activity within the institutional and bilateral projects during the year 2018 were presented by the project directors acad. Andrei EŞANU, assoc.prof. Dr. Gheorghe NEGRU, prof. dr. hab. Ion ŞIŞCANU, assoc. prof. dr. hab. Ana PASCARU, assoc.prof. Dr. Silvia CORLĂTEANU. The postdoctoral activity reports were presented by the  scholars: Dr. Lidia TROIANOVSCHI, Dr. Mariana BAGRIN, Dr. Virgiliu BÎRLĂDEANU.

The Institute of History of the MECR organized on Monday, November 19, 2018 the public conference of Professor Paul Michelson, University of Huntington, USA, on ROMANIA AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE GREAT WAR, 1918-1928. The event, hosted by the Small Hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, brought together researchers in the field of history, eager to hear an impartial, disinterested vision on Romania's interwar history. The works of the conference were moderated by dr.hab. Nicolae Enciu, Deputy Director of the Institute of History, who reviewed the main academic achievements of Professor Paul Michelson. The speaker then pointed out the main moments of Romania's political history in the interwar period, in the conditions of the challenges of the new territorial and ethnic configuration and from the perspective of the national ideals drawn up until 1918.
