The Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Bucharest, in partnership with the Institute of History from Chisinau and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest, organizes on 20 March 2018 the scientific conference "Centenary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania. The Institute of Legal and Political Research, the Institute of History, the "Mihai Eminescu" Cultural Institute in Chisinau, the Center for Culture and Military History of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, the Local Council, Ghidighici commune, Chisinau municipality, organized on 23 January 2018 the Scientific Symposium "The Centenary of the  Great Union. Bessarabia on the path of affirmation of national identity (January 24, 1859 - January 24, 1918)". The eventwas  attended by historians, jurists, political scientists and philosophers, who discussed issues regarding the independence of the Moldovan Democratic Republic on January 24, 1918, the historical, legal and political consequences of the Union of Principalities (24 January 1859) and the Declaration of Independence of the Moldovan Democratic Republic (January 24, 1918). Other topics dedicated to the Union of Bessarabia with Romania and the Centenary of the Great Union were addressed.

The Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, in collaboration with the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, organized on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, the launch of the Romanian Manuscript Catalog from the 13th-19th centuries in foreign collections (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus), signed by Valentina Pelin (1950-2006). The event took place within the Art Gallery of the National Library (bl. II, 1st floor, 31 August 1989 , no. 78 A).

On 21 December 2017, the Conference Hall of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History hosted the Annual Scientific Session of the Institute of History of the ASM. The program included 48 papers, grouped into following panels: Moldavia in medieval and early modern time, Bessarabia in the modern era, The space between the Prut and Dniester, and that from left bank of Dniester in the twentieth century, Historical and axiomatic aspects in philosophy traditions. A special moment within this scientific meeting was the performance of carol singers.
